JAMEC Pem Racing return to GT competition

One of Australia’s most successful GT entries in the category’s history makes a return at Bathurst this weekend as JAMEC Pem Racing returns to action alongside multi-title winning driver Geoff Emery.

JAMEC Pem Racing first entered competition in 2014 with Steve McLaughlin and Warren Luff entered in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Ultra before the squad expanded to a pair of entries as German ace Christopher Mies sealed the Australian GT crown.

Further race wins followed in 2016 when experienced racer Emery joined the squad. This led to a dominant run for Emery resulting in a hattrick of Australian GT titles between 2017 and 2019.

Outside of its Australian GT campaigns, JAMEC Pem backed outright Audi contenders at the Bathurst 12 Hour.

Emery returns to GT racing following two seasons in the Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship where he was a consistent frontrunner in the Pro-Am Class, nearly snatching the title in 2021.

Targeting further success, Emery reunited with the Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia team and JAMEC PEM Racing for all-out assault on the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS title.

Emery is this weekend teamed with German ace Christer Joens, but will have the returning Mies and Garth Tander alongside at selected rounds this season as it adds to an exciting outright fight for the title.

The opening round of six is at the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS this weekend at the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.

“I didn’t plan to do any racing this year to be honest and Troy (Russell) had a deal come up, so I jumped at,” said Emery.

“I haven’t driven the thing for a while, so I’ve hit the ground running after driving a Cup Car for a couple of years with no driver aids or the aerodynamics these Audis have. I just need to get my head around it again and of we go.

“GT is looking really healthy at the moment, so it’s looking like a good series to run this year. There are a lot of good names and experienced drivers, so it’s going to be a pretty tough one to win this year.
