Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte have had a strong start to GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS’ first Practice session of the year, with an ARGT duo guiding their #26 Ferrari 296 GT3 to the top of the timesheets.
With a blistering lap time of 1:07.470 set by Evans during his first-half stint, the pair remained unbeaten for the rest of the session as the next best crew was more than two tenths off - with Will Davison and Renee Gracie making it a Ferrari one-two.
The OnlyFans Racing duo have continued to gain speed since debuting in the Ferrari at Phillip Island, highlighted by this session.
Rounding out the top three in Practice 1 were Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher in the #1 Kelso Electrical Team MPC Audi R8 LMS EVO II - thereigning champions ended up just half a tenth slower, courtesy of Feeney.
Falling agonisingly short of a top-three placing in the session was Team BRM’s Alex Peroni and Mark Rosser in the #268 Audi R8 LMS EVO II, with the pair just two thousandths of a second off the Team MPC duo.
A third Audi made up the final spot in the top five with Team BRM / Wolfbrook Motorsport’s Ryan Wood and Steve Brooks fifth by a further eight hundredths of a second.
In the Trophy Cup, Luke Youlden and Nathan Halstead made a strong start to the weekend with their fastest time in the class - their time of 1:08.200 in the #71 AED Consulting by Tigani Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3R proving more than half a second faster than the KFC Team MPC Melbourne Performance Centre Audi R8 LMS EVO II of Paul Stokell and Gary Higgon.
