Wood and Brooks top final practice session after busy Friday in Queensland

Ryan Wood and Steve Brooks have finished a busy Friday at Queensland Raceway on a high after posting the fastest time in GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS’ third and final Practice session for the day.

Behind the wheel of the #88 Team BRM / Wolfbrook Motorsport Audi R8 LMS EVO II, the pair ended up with a 1:06.924 after Wood dominated the session during his stint in the first half of the session.

Eventually his 13th lap would prove unbeaten with the next best driver for the session being Will Davison in the #181 OnlyFans Racing Ferrari 296 GT3, with the Queenslander’s best lap just three hundredths of a second slower than Wood’s.

Completing the top three was Team BRM's sister #268 Audi R8 LMS EVO II of Mark Rosser and Alex Peroni, as the latter marked his return to the series after missing the opening two rounds of the year with a best lap time of 1:07.146 - just two tenths off Brooks.
Very little split the difference between Rosser and Peroni and the reigning champions of Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher, as just four thousandths of a second separated the two Audis.

Feeney and Schumacher’s fourth place was highly impressive considering the latter's crash in Practice 2, however with Feeney in the #1 Kelso Electrical Team MPC Audi R8 LMS EVO II for the majority of the final session, they remained towards the top of the timesheets for the majority of the session.

Rounding out the top five was Practice 1 pacesetters Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte, with the former posting his best time on his penultimate lap. Guiding the #26 ARGT Ferrari 296 GT3 to a time of 1:07.308, Evans helped the duo up the order after a challenging first half of the session.

In Trophy Class, AED Consulting by Tigani Motorsport found themselves back on top as Nathan Halstead and Luke Youlden steered their #71 Porsche 911 GT3R to an unbeaten lap time of 1:08.014.

KFC Team MPC's Gary Higgon and Paul Stokell finished with the second fastest time of the session in the #24 Audi R8 LMS EVO II after steadily improving throughout the hour, eventually coming to within one tenth of the Porsche.

Volante Rosso Motorsport rounded out the Trophy Class top three with Cameron Rees continuing to gain valuable experience in the #14 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3.

It’s an early start for GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, with the double qualifying session to take place at 9am AEST.
